On Monday 29th December 2008, me and my Dad (originally my Mum & Sister were going to come too) visited the West Somerset Railay for their Winter Steam Festival, which in 2008 had been extended to a two-day event.Six locomotives were in charge of hauling and heating the services, in the form of -| S&DJR 2-8-0 7F number 88| GWR 2-8-0 2884 Class number 3850| GWR 4-6-0 60xx 'King' Class number 6024 'King Edward I' (Visiting the line)| GWR 0-6-2T 66xx 'Taffy Tank' Class number 6695 (on loan from Swanage)| WSR/GWR 2-6-0 9351 'Mogul' Class number 9351| SR 4-6-2 'West Country' Class number 34046 'Braunton'We did ride and this is the plan we did -1040 - Bishops Lydeard to Williton behind 9351 (Full, so window hanged all the way!)1117 - Williton to Crowcombe Heathfield behind 6024 'King Edward I'1228 - Crowcombe Heathfield to Bishops Lydeard behind 66951425 - Bishops Lydeard to Minehead behind 66951600 - Minehead to Bishops Lydeard behind 88A wonderful way to end the 2008 season, and I enjoyed haulage behind 'The King'. I had planned on going to the GWSR the next day with GJDobbzy & theonlyadsrulz, but due to the landslip near Cheltenham we couldn't be bothered to bus it to Winchcombe and didn't go.

Three Guest Locomotives joined the Homebased fleet at the Churnston Valley Railway for the Annual Autumn Steam Gala weekend over Thursday 25th - Sunday 28th September 2008 (sorry its so late!)The biggest event of the year in the railway's calendar wasn't as big as other years, but was still big! The ASG featured many different types of locos and train formations, Locals, Milk, Auto & Goods could all be seen plus the main services.From just outside Swansport General the line runs beside the coast to Newsea and is fully double tracked!At Swansport General, passengers could ride in Autocoach W186W behind 1419, aswell as the shunting demos. A rare visit to the shed could also be made at certain times of the day. Wayworth is where the Diesels are currently kept and visitors could cab and look around them, in the sidings behind the station, also there was the P-Way gang's train of wagons and the Spare Loco, on the day of the video, GWR 0-6-0 Pannier Tank 3715.
