On Monday 29th December 2008, me and my Dad (originally my Mum & Sister were going to come too) visited the West Somerset Railay for their Winter Steam Festival, which in 2008 had been extended to a two-day event.Six locomotives were in charge of hauling and heating the services, in the form of -| S&DJR 2-8-0 7F number 88| GWR 2-8-0 2884 Class number 3850| GWR 4-6-0 60xx 'King' Class number 6024 'King Edward I' (Visiting the line)| GWR 0-6-2T 66xx 'Taffy Tank' Class number 6695 (on loan from Swanage)| WSR/GWR 2-6-0 9351 'Mogul' Class number 9351| SR 4-6-2 'West Country' Class number 34046 'Braunton'We did ride and this is the plan we did -1040 - Bishops Lydeard to Williton behind 9351 (Full, so window hanged all the way!)1117 - Williton to Crowcombe Heathfield behind 6024 'King Edward I'1228 - Crowcombe Heathfield to Bishops Lydeard behind 66951425 - Bishops Lydeard to Minehead behind 66951600 - Minehead to Bishops Lydeard behind 88A wonderful way to end the 2008 season, and I enjoyed haulage behind 'The King'. I had planned on going to the GWSR the next day with GJDobbzy & theonlyadsrulz, but due to the landslip near Cheltenham we couldn't be bothered to bus it to Winchcombe and didn't go.
