This attack run was recorded on October 29, 2007. I remember I was hitting this game hard for a solid two months after I had bought a Dreamcast off of one of my co-workers. Somewhere early within that time I had also acquired an old S-VHS VCR so I could record gameplay footage in all analog glory (as I didn't/don't trust a DVD-R's capacity to record all those bullets and medals without artifacting, which mine did). Not long ago 1/6th of this score was called 'the highest video game score ever recorded' by the Guinness Book of World Records, much to my surprise and praise from my peers, and a little embarrassment to the shmup community, which prompted me to tackle the game again in order to put up a more reputable score. While this new score can still be considered astronomical, 'The Highest Video Game Score' has since been surpassed by Mr. Rodrigo Lopes of Brazil (on this same Score Attack), Tom Duncan (on a different game entirely), and possibly Todd Rogers (on the same said different game entirely; I need to find out what happened on that run). I, too have beaten this score since then.It was in the month of practice before Funspot X when I decided to switch planes on a hunch. Unfortunately, the run wasn't recorded and the high score still haunts me to this day. It wasn't as high as Mr. Lopes, but it brings me hope that I can still surpass my best efforts.

Beat Castlevania without using sub-weapons or wall-meat with 6 deaths / no continues used, score 1956801st death by the Grim Reaper2nd death by the Grim Reaper3rd death by the Grim Reaper4th death by the Grim Reaper5th death by the Grim Reaper6th death by Dracula's 2nd formAny sub-weapons picked up accidentally I just avoided using them, if I needed food to replenish my health, too bad. Also I tried to avoid grabbing invisibility potions and crosses, but sometimes they were unavoidable, but if I happened to grab invisibility I stood in place until it wore off, if I grabbed a cross, well, nothing I can do but to except it.Game was played on actual NES console, recording was done on VHS tape, and then by webcam.
