Background: From November 9th - November 30th, 2008, Barefoot Workshops led a three-week program in Tel Aviv, teaching Israeli organizations how to write, shoot, produce, and edit, Public Service Announcements (PSAs), to raise awareness about important social issues. Nine PSAs were produced on such topics as: human rights, sexual education for teens through the Internet, bridging Jewish and Arab-Israeli youths through the arts, equal opportunity for Ethiopian Jews, building the capacity of nonprofits, and supporting women-owned businesses in Israel.The aim of the workshop was to foster greater civic participation, activism, and debate by teaching civil society organizations how to create messages that can improve their societies from within. The workshop was supported by the United States Government Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), and Creative Associates International.Description: This 30-second PSA created by Supportive Community (SVIVA), promotes the mission of Supportive Community (SVIVA) to assist in the growth of women-owned businesses in Israel through training and support services. The PSA presents a montage of positive images of women in leadership roles, beginning with a woman placing her business card alongside others. The next image shows a training session in which one woman in a conference room presents to several others seated in chairs. In the next image, three women gather around a computer screen, and the final image presents a woman shaking hands with a man from behind her desk, presumably closing a deal. The phrases, Economic Performance (in Russian) Creativity and Growth (Arabic), Networking (English) and Power and Purpose (Hebrew), are paired with each image to underscore its meaning. A voice presents the facts, Since 2003, more than 1500 women, have opened their small businesses with Supportive Communitys guidance and micro-finance loans. The final image is of a woman, silhouetted from behind, walking through double doors, with her hands raised. The words, I did it! appears as she exits.
