The Red tail was found by a trapper in one of his traps. The Hawk was pinned by the head and feet in the trap and hypothermic from being in the trap over night at 15 to 20 degrees. After the vet treated her, she spent 10 days recovering. It was slow at first, did not look very good, We built a cage and draped it with Foil/bubble insulation and a kept her at 70 to 80 degrees to treat the hypothermia which it appeared to help a lot by the 2nd. day. she could not stand for the first 2 days, she then started using her right foot, then a few days later she was perching and using both feet, but you could see she still favored the left. 7 days she was perching goodand was starting to assume the defense position when we cleaned her cage, but was not eating yet. 9th. day she ate 2 rats.
