Here is a great stove that anyone can make. There have been several video's made by others on the cat can stove. This is my tribute to an easy and fun to make stove. The Process: First I began with a fancy feast cat can. I removed the label and glue from the can. Then I sanded it down to remove the paint (not a requirement). Then I drilled 8 equally spaced holes (1/8" drill bit) along and just below the rim of the can. I then measured 5/8" down from the rim and drilled 16 equally spaced holes with the 1/8" bit. Then I sanded the can again to get rid of any burs that might be there. Then I added the denatured alcohol, lit it, and placed the pot on the stove. I then filmed the results. The flame pattern was perfect for the pot. The stove brought to a rolling boil 16 ounces of cold tap water in 5 min. 50 sec. I'm at 5100' elevation so the boil time takes longer than for someone living at a lower elevation. This is a sturdy and reliable alcohol stove that holds two ounces of alcohol(amount determined by the size and placement of the holes). On a very cold and windy day the extra ounce may come in handy, or if you're cooking for more than one person. Aluminum stove weighs less than 1/4 ounce, 2 1/2" in diameter, and only 1 7/16" in height.Aluminum pot is 5 1/4" in diameter and has a 20 ounce capacity.Be sure to visit the information packed website on the Super Cat Stove by Mr. Jim Wood. Gastric acid activates pepsinogen into pepsinthis enzyme then helps digestion by breaking the bonds linking amino acids, a process known as proteolysis.
