In this comedy, a grandmother decides to help her naive grandson get the money he needs to marry his girl by allowing him to get his inheritance, a mattress factory, before she dies. She suggests that he use it as collateral on a loan, but instead the young man sells the business to a crook who ends up charging another interested buyer an exorbitant interest rate for it. The angry buyer then tries to force the lad's father to buy back the factory. That doesn't work, so he ends up kidnapping the grandmother. This is not a wise move as the grandmother is far more clever than her captor and quickly turns the situation around to her advantage. This video was made on December 30, 2008, just a couple weeks short of Mary's 99th birthday. I asked her for words of wisdom and advice and as usual she kept pretty mum, but she had some pretty cool advice for teens and young adults who are feeling doom and gloom. Am just getting practice for doing an interview with her when she is a centarian (i.e., 100 years old) next year -- and trying to get her used to it too. I have a feeling that with the right questions we just might even find a new "fruitcake lady." Mary still enjoys the occasional drink (though she does not smoke). Maybe we should do the next interview over a drink and call her the "libations lady." (That's what she calls them -- the alcoholic drinks -- is libations.)
