"Gabe" is a 13 year old sound Appendix (Quarter/Thoroughbred cross) gelding he is unregistered about 16 hands he is a complete LOVE BUG gentle wonderful boy. He ties, trailers, stands for farrier, longes. Use to be a ranch horse, has been used as a trail horse for the last year, has been over bridges, in tunnels, river and streams! Easy to catch, easy to de-worm and easy keeper! Stands patiently while mounting and while tied and saddleing. Is currently barefoot for the winter and just dewormed and teeth floated. Very smooth gaits!

This is the first in a series of videos I plan to post on hoof care. Please seek assistance from a qualified professional farrier before you attempt to try anything taught or shown on these videos.As a note, I did pull the foot forward after the camera was turned off to check for and address any flares that were not obvious from the underside view. However, I wanted to keep this first video to a basic overview of the steps in trimming without going into addressing flares or corrective work, and so I chose not to include the final step.
