This is my Dad. He was with the 83rd Thunderbolt Division during World War II. This division was attached at various times to the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 9th Armies. They were the first to cross the Rhine, and established the Elbe bridgehead, which cleared the way to Berlin and the surrender of Germany. My Dad was a PFC who received three battle stars and the Purple Heart. Most notably, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, through the Ardennes forest. His WWII letters are collected in the books "Soldier of the Ardennes" and "Veteran of the Ardennes". This short video is a WWII story which he shared with me three years before he passed away.
