In the Black Pyramid, Mumm-Ra beckons Ma-Mutt to join him in looking back in time when a youthful Jaga defeated Ratilla the Terrible in an attack on Thundera. It is revealed that Jaga exiled Ratilla and threw his enemy's weapon, the Sword of Plun-Darr, into a chasm on Thundera. Years later, the Sword of Plun-Darr destroyed Thundera in its effort to escape its molten lava tomb. After observing this, Mumm-Ra and Ma-Mutt travel in a smaller pyramid-like vehicle called the Mumm-Raft to retrieve the Sword of Plun-Darr, having a plan to destroy the Thundercats in the present.Some time later, Lynx-O becomes aware of Thundera reforming in its former location. The Thundercats further investigate Lynx-O's data, confirming that the planet is reforming. A satellite video of Mumm-Ra's pyramid on ThunDERa prompts Lion-O and Panthro to see if Mumm-Ra is still on Third Earth, or he is indeed on "New" Thundera.Panthro is tricked into following a vision of Mumm-Ra into a trap, with Lion-O joining him not long after. Lion-O calls for the others with the Eye of Thundera, with both Thundercats escaping through the cauldron just before their friends arrive at the Black Pyramid. Jaga appears to Lion-O in order to tell the young lord that Mumm-Ra is seeking the secrets of the Thundercats in the form of the Treasure of Thundera and to gain the Sword of Plun-Darr.As the Thundercats figure out a way to get to Thundera, they find out that their original world's Valley of Snarfs is populated by enslaved Snarfs under Mumm-Ra's dominance. The Thundercats are parted into two groups to help their efforts to get to Thundera. Lynx-O, Wilykat and Wilykit are assigned to the Tower of Omens to monitor Thundera's happenings. The remaining Thundercats work on a booster for the Feliner at Cats' Lair.Vultureman lets Luna know that the Tower of Omens is an easy target for an attack. Lynx-O, Wilykit and Wilykat are captured despite their best efforts to fend off the Luna-Taks.
