Engen presents : Meet Marilena Claro where she talks about her " My Best Lessons Award 2008" for Grade 10 English, in a video interview conducted by Janet UnterslakMrs Claro teaches grades 12, 11 and 9. This lesson was based on Creative Writing and allowed the children to explore narrative writing in the form of memoirs.Mrs Claro referred to two published memoirs ( A Million Little Pieces and Angelas Ashes) as examples of narrative voice. The students were asked to write an essay based on a personal experience that was factual. They were then further instructed to embellish or exaggerate the truth. This helped them learn techniques of narrative writing, for example exaggeration and repetition. The children were given 3 lessons to complete the essaywww.learn.co.za
